The BKA Open Championship was a great success. We started the day at 10.15a.m. 15 minutes late (somebody shoot me) with the Team Kumite and a couple of Kata events.
Starting the day with the team kumite meant an instant injection of energy and interest, something we will certainly do again.
The winning Kumite team were Roding School of Karate who brought with them a good quantity of contestants and spectators with an excellent attitude and vocal support, which added to the days’ great atmosphere.
I’d like to thank the referees for attending which meant that we could start early and finish early, also the many helpers without whom it would be hard for any tournament to succeed, last but not least chief referee on the day Peter Bibby for his guidance and hard work.
